Tripping Along

In October 2015 Mr R was walking in the centre of Hull. As he was doing so he tripped and fell over a defect in the surface of the pavement. He landed awkwardly and as result suffered a fractured wrist. As well as causing him a lot of pain and discomfort, it also meant he couldn’t go to work for a few weeks so he lost wages too.

When Mr R told us what had happened we investigated whether he had a claim. Having decided that he did we put that claim to the Council. The pavement the accident happened on was part of the public highway and their responsibility.

The Council has agreed they are at fault which means that Mr R will be compensated for his losses caused by the accident.
