We Want Your Batley Movies

Batley Festival working with Creative Scene are asking the good folk of Batley and around for their Batley home movies, photographs and stories as part of this year’s festival on 10 September. The plan is to use these memories as part of a performance by arts-theatre company Periplum, which is scheduled to be the grand finale performance on the evening.

The show is an original piece which has been commissioned especially for the festival, which will tell the story of Batley over the last 100 years through a mixture of film, projection and theatre performance, and the creators would like to include original historical footage, images and local stories. Films and photographs can show anything from a family party, to a day out in the park, to a walk around the town, etc as long as they are connected with the history of the town.

And if you have an interesting tale to tell they would love to hear from you too.

Kimberley Thirkill, chair of Batley Festival said:-

“I’m so excited that this year’s evening event will be a brand new piece of work, created in Batley, with people from Batley, celebrating all the weird and wonderful things Batley has on offer. It will be a tremendous addition to the festival and an event you won’t want to miss.”
