Miss C found her normal bus home from work to be unusually busy. This meant not just standing room only, but that the bus was full front to back. This meant that Miss C was stood very close to the doors of the bus for the journey. So close in fact that when the driver pulled up at a further stop, the opening doors caught and trapped her, causing Miss C to suffer injuries.
We put the claim to the bus company, pointing out that the accident was the driver’s fault. He simply should not have allowed that many passengers on board, and knowing that people were stood that close to the doors he should have made certain that it was safe to open them.
The bus company would not accept responsibility at first, and many firms would have dropped the case at that point. We fought on, and Miss C will now be receiving compensation, as the bus company now accepts they must pay it.
