Halifax Piece Hall

We are very fortunate to be close to the Piece Hall in Halifax. This historic building was built as a cloth Hall in 1779. It gets its name from the standard length of woven woollen fabric which was traded at the time. The 30 yard length was known as a “piece”.

The building has seen many changes and has had varying fortunes over the years since. It fell in to substantial disrepair and closed down. Then having initially reopened to the public in 1976, the building closed down once again. But reopened in 2017 following a significant multi-million pound conservation and transformation. And has over the last few years established itself as one of the premier music venues not just in the north of England but in the country as a whole. Attracting a host of big-name acts and bands.

Andrew Marsden from our Batley office has been taking full advantage of getting to see some great live music, and reliving his concert going youth. Having, most recently seeing Simple Minds in concert (almost 35 years to the day on from when he first saw them perform). And before that Madness – discovering that he cannot quite keep the dancing going as he used to!!!

Andrew already has a few concerts booked for next year’s concert season. You can find out about upcoming concerts and many other events held at the Piece Hall here https://www.thepiecehall.co.uk/culture/ but make sure you are quick about it once a concert you fancy is announced, because tickets always sell out very quickly.

And it is not just concerts that the event space hosts, they currently have a Halloween trail and their ever popular Christmas Market will be on soon. Away from events the Piece Hall is home to lots of independent retailers, many selling unusual and quirky goods that you are not going to find anywhere else on the high street. It is certainly worth a visit. And be sure to keep an eye out for the arrival of your favourite act. And whilst we all enjoy some great live music and entertainment, when it comes to legal advice and assistance you can be sure that we will not make a song and dance about it.
