The Oscars 2026
This year’s Oscar nominations have been announced with Sinners a supernatural thriller set in 1930s Mississippi setting a new record with 16 Nominations.
Other blockbusters such as One Battle After Another and Hamnet are not far behind. A lot of the films share a theme of battles against adversity and having to fight for what you want.
And unusually for the Oscars a couple of horrors as well. Perhaps these sorts of films speak to audiences more because we all have our own battles in life. Our battles may not include getting back with our old revolutionary mates to rescue a family member from an evil criminal gang (exactly how many films can they actually make on this theme!!), or saving an ailing F1 racing team.
And nobody is likely to make a film about them – but Andrew Marsden from our Batley office is available for starring role duties if needed (just saying). But, our day to day problems are real problems and a lot more important than those on the silver screen.
