New Year
New Year’s resolutions….A new Year, a new start and time to make some changes. They have been around for quite a while.
Believed to date back some 4000 years and the ancient Babylonians who would make promises to the Gods as part of their celebration of the new Year. Although their year started in mid- march. The Romans had a similar tradition, moving the start of the year to 01 January when Julius Ceasar decided to change the calendar around a bit.
A boom time for gyms most new Year’s resolutions are about health and fitness, eating better, etc. And most resolutions have gone out of the window by the end of February, leaving that gym membership gathering dust. Deciding to get something done is a good idea, and the start of the year is as good a time as any but make your expectations reasonable.
Start with something manageable.
Don’t say you are going to exercise every night because you won’t.
Start with going for a 30 minute walk twice a week instead, and you might find you stick to that and build upon it.
It is also a good time to think about legal resolutions.
How long have you been “getting around to” sorting out that will, that power of attorney, finding out if you can make a claim.
We offer initial free appointments and advice by telephone, so start with something more manageable and get in touch to find out what is involved, what is the cost, and what you can or can’t do.
There is no commitment and you will probably find that it is all a lot easier and less daunting than you thought.
