Probate Fee Increase Controversy

The Ministry of Justice plan to bring in changes to probate registry fees in April 2019. You will see in the attached article that this will be challenged on the basis that it is a ‘stealth tax’. We are hoping that the changes do not come in as it will hit bereaved families the hardest at a difficult time in their lives.

We would encourage everyone to bear the proposed changes in mind when deciding when to apply for probate. If your deceased family member has died and there is still a need for you to apply for probate, give us a call at one of our 6 offices and we can advise you further on the probate process and the proposed fees.
