Preventing Illegal Working

Posted on February 4, 2019 by

The Home Office has a code of practice on preventing illegal working. This code sets out the checks that Employers should conduct to avoid a civil penalty in the event of illegal working. The first code which came out in 2014, has now been updated and it provides that Employers may establish a statutory excuse against liability for an illegal working civil penalty, by conducting an online right to work check. If in doubt, use the Home Office online right to work checking service. If you require any further information, contact Ian Furness at Brearleys Solicitors on 01924 443900.
