Domestic Violence

At Brearleys we work closely with the other protective agencies such as the Police, Refuges and in particular the “Kirklees Community Safety Partnership”.  We have access to many other services such as

• Counselling,
• assistance with alternative accommodation,
• taking protective measures to ensure that your own accommodation is safe,
• housing advice
• benefits advice
• advice on child protection

We are experts in obtaining Injunctions to protect people and assist them in remaining in their homes.  It is now a criminal offence to breach an Injunction Order and the Police enforce these Orders through the Magistrates Court.  Anyone found to be in breach of such an Order could face Prison, for up to 5 years. 

At Brearleys we recognise that when you come to see us with a Domestic Violence issue, you need urgent advice.  We are committed to seeing people within 24 hours of them contacting us.  Most people are seen as soon as they can get to an office and generally speaking an Injunction can be obtained the same day, initially without notice to the perpetrator. 

Again we understand that obtaining an Injunction Order can be a very frightening step to take.  The family team are very sensitive to this and provide compassionate and practical advice and assistance.
